Wash plums, dab dry, stone and quarter them. For the sponge mixture, whisk the fat and sugar with a whisk until frothy. Cut the marzipan into pieces, add and stir until smooth. Gradually add the eggs. Stir in bitter almond flavour and milk. Mix flour and baking powder, pass through a sieve and stir in gradually. Pour into the greased springform pan.
Put the prepared plums close together into the dough. Bake in the preheated oven (electric: 175 °C/ gas: level 2) for 60-70 minutes. If necessary, cover with some parchment paper after 40 minutes baking time. Loosen the edge of the springform pan. Dust the cake with icing sugar and let it cool down. Makes about 12 pieces
