  • 1 TABLESPOON Espresso powder (instant)
  • 200 g Butter or margarine
  • 200 g Sugar
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 1 package Vanillin sugar
  • 4 Eggs (size M)
  • 350 g Flour
  • 1 package Baking Powder
  • 3 TABLESPOONS Milk
  • 2 TABLESPOONS Cocoa powder
  • 7-10 Tbsp Icing sugar
  • 7-10 Tbsp Fat and flour

Directions

  1. 1

Mix espresso powder and 2 tablespoons of hot water. Cream fat, sugar, salt and vanilla sugar with the whisk of the hand mixer. Stir in the eggs one after the other. Mix flour and baking powder and stir in alternately with the milk. Halve the dough. Put half of the dough into a greased, flour-spread box form (25 cm long; 1.5 litres capacity). Stir espresso and cocoa into the other half of the dough and pour into the mould.

  2. 2

Marble the dough with a fork. Bake the cake in the preheated oven (electric cooker: 175 °C/ convection oven: 150 °C/ gas: level 2) for approx. 50 minutes. Remove the cake and let it cool in the tin for about 30 minutes. Turn the cake onto a cake rack and let it cool down. Dust the cake with icing sugar before serving. Whipped cream tastes good with it
