Ingredients

  • 200 ml + 2 tablespoons of milk
  • 1 cube (42 g) fresh yeast
  • 50 g butter/margarine
  • 400 g + some flour
  • 7-10 Tbsp Salt
  • 50 g Diabetic sweetness
  • 1 egg + 1 egg yolk (size M)
  • 75 g Walnut kernels
  • 1 (200 g) peeled, cored apple
  • 20 g Sour cherry jam
  • 50 g dried cherries

Directions

    Heat 200 ml of milk. Crumble yeast and dissolve in it. Melt fat. Mix 400 g flour, sweetness and 1 pinch of salt. Add fat, yeast milk and 1 egg. Knead to a smooth dough. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for about 45 minutes

    Chop nuts. Dice apple finely. Mix both with jam and cherries

    Roll out the dough on a slightly floured work surface in a rectangular shape (approx. 20 x 60 cm). Spread the nut mixture on top and roll up lengthwise. Halve the roll and twist both strands to form a cord. Leave to rise for about 20 minutes.

    Whisk the egg yolk and 2 tablespoons of milk. Spread the striezel with it. Bake in the preheated oven (electric oven: 200 °C/circulating air: 175 °C/gas: level 3) for 35-40 minutes. If necessary cover before baking
