Roll out 2/3 of the dough on the fat pan, press up 1 cm at the edge. Pre-bake in a hot oven (electric range: 175 °C/circulating air: 150 °C/gas: level 2) for approx. 12 minutes
Spread apples on the ground. Roll out the rest of the dough to a square (approx. 30 x 30 cm) and cut into 3 strips. Roll over each strip with the grid cutter. Pull a little bit apart and lay on the apples. Press together at the seams. Or cut the dough into narrow strips and lay them on top as a grid
Bake the cake at the same temperature for another 25-35 minutes. Whisk 1 egg yolk and cream or milk. After approx. 10 minutes baking time, brush the grid with it and sprinkle 1 tbsp. almond slivers on the cake. Bake the cake to the end. Cool down
